World Bees Day

World Bee Day is celebrated every year on the 20th of May.

This day honors the birthday of Slovenian Anton Janša, pioneer of modern beekeeping techniques in the 18th century.

This date commemorates the importance of pollinating beings and seeks to raise awareness of the threats bees face.

It is intended to enhance its importance for the balance of the ecosystem, for the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development.

World Bee Day was proclaimed by Resolution 72/211 adopted at the UN General Assembly on December 20, 2017.
