The Municipality of Tavira is launching “Flavours of the Market”, a project in partnership with the Vila Real de Santo António School of Hospitality and Tourism (EHTVRSA), the International Association of Paremiology (AIP), the Tavira Local Health Unit (ULS) and the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve). Held four times a year, in line with the seasons, the project invites producers and traders from Tavira Municipal Market to share recipes and knowledge related to the products they sell, strengthening the connection between producers and consumers.
As part of this collaboration, the ULS provides information on the nutritional aspects of food, the hospitality school shares preparation and cooking tips, the AIP contributes content through proverbs, and CCDR Algarve adds information on the agricultural sector, namely the fruit tree collection established at CEAT.
Aligned with the principles of the Mediterranean Diet — which promotes the consumption of fresh, seasonal and local produce, sustainability, and the sharing of traditions around the table — “Flavours of the Market” strengthens the link between food, place and community, contributing to the promotion of the region’s gastronomic and cultural identity.
