{"id":3641,"date":"2023-06-23T00:04:15","date_gmt":"2023-06-22T22:04:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/?p=3641"},"modified":"2023-06-23T00:04:16","modified_gmt":"2023-06-22T22:04:16","slug":"municipality-of-tavira-organises-handicrafts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/el\/municipality-of-tavira-organises-handicrafts\/","title":{"rendered":"Municipality of Tavira organises handicrafts"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">food, folklore and wine-tasting workshops\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the \u201cValorising \u2013 Sustainability Support Line\u201d programme, the Municipality of Tavira proposed the project \u201cTavira and the Mediterranean Diet: A Sustainable Tourism Destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this context, experimental workshops were planned based on the customs and traditions of the Mediterranean diet within the scope of handicrafts, folklore, food and wine tasting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the food department, the event \u201cMediterranean flavours from the Algarve\u201d was organised which consisted of cooking demonstrations organised by <em>Associa\u00e7\u00e3o IN Loco<\/em>. Participants could buy ingredients at Tavira Municipal Market and have fun learning how to prepare them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the subject of handicrafts, workshops were held on <em>Empreita de Palma<\/em> (palm-leaf preparation), <em>cana<\/em> (weaving with sugarcane fibres), <em>taleigos<\/em> (sack making) and short- and long-lasting <em>esparto<\/em> (a grass used to make cords and baskets) organised and guided by <em>AECT \u2013 Projeto Lado a Lado as well as ASTA \u2013 Associa\u00e7\u00e3o de Arte e Sabores de Tavira.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <em>Rancho Folclore de Santo Est\u00eav\u00e3o<\/em> was responsible for teaching a few traditional folklore dance steps for anyone interested, with a short demonstration followed by some training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wine tasting was held at the Tavira Municipal Museum-<em>Pal\u00e1cio da Galeria<\/em> \u2013 with the inclusion of a guided tour of the exhibition on the Mediterranean diet entitled \u201cA Millenary Cultural Heritage\u201d in collaboration with <em>Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Agrolares, Lda<\/em> \u2013 and provided the chance to discover the different tastes and grape varieties of the wine produced in the Algarve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These workshops took place in April, May and June.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"465\" height=\"310\" data-id=\"3643\" src=\"https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3643\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-4.jpg 465w, https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-4-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-4-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 465px) 100vw, 465px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"470\" height=\"313\" data-id=\"3644\" src=\"https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3644\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-3.jpg 470w, https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-3-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 470px) 100vw, 470px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"417\" height=\"313\" data-id=\"3645\" src=\"https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3645\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-1.jpg 417w, https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mediterraneandietunesco.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/unnamed-1-16x12.jpg 16w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 417px) 100vw, 417px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>food, folklore and wine-tasting workshops\u00a0 Under the \u201cValorising \u2013 Sustainability Support Line\u201d programme, the Municipality of Tavira proposed the project \u201cTavira and the Mediterranean Diet: A Sustainable Tourism Destination.
