AGROS welcomes 11,000 children to celebrate Children’s Day and Milk Day
AGROS – Union of Milk Producers’ Cooperatives organized, in partnership with the Departments of Education and School Groups of the Municipalities of Póvoa de Varzim and Vila do Conde, the 7th edition of the Children’s and Milk Festival.
For logistical and scheduling reasons, the initiative kicked off on May 30 and continued through June 3 and 4, with the main objective of promoting milk as a healthy, safe, and essential food for children’s growth and development.
During the three days of the event, Espaço Agros welcomed around 11,000 children from various schools in the two municipalities. In a relaxed, outdoor environment, the youngsters were able to enjoy unique moments of socializing, leisure, and fun, continuously highlighting the value of milk in establishing balanced eating habits from childhood.
This year’s edition was attended on June 3 by the Deputy Secretary for Equality, Dr. Carla Rodrigues, representing the Ministry of Youth and Modernization, and the Vice President of CCDR-N, Dr. Paulo Ramalho, representing the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. Both were accompanied by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of AGROS, Idalino Leão.
They were also accompanied by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of AGROS, Idalino Leão, the Mayor of Vila do Conde, Prof. Dr. Vítor Costa, and the respective Councilor for Education, Dr. Carla Peixoto, as well as the Vice-Mayor of Póvoa de Varzim, Dr. Luís Diamantino, and Councilor Dr. Andrea Silva.
At the end of the activity, all the children present had the opportunity to receive a lunch box with a carton of milk, representing a daily dose recommended by the Food Wheel.
With this initiative, AGROS reaffirms its commitment to promoting milk production and the future of the agri-food sector. Investing in the education and awareness of children is sowing the seeds for a more conscious, healthy, and sustainable future for all.
